All roads lead to the Araneta Coliseum.

This will be a highly incoherent post given that (1) I headed straight to the Cov Courts at 3 am right after I finished my American Cinema paper and (2) I have logged in 2.5 hours of sleep for the past 48 hours. I'm just amazed that people actually camped out at Manang's as early as 9:30 pm the night before. So seryoso pala talaga na may nag-oovernight para mauna sa pila.

At exactly 8:53 am, Ria and I finally got our tickets for this Thursday's ball game! It was funny to see how Ateneans looked like after they got their tickets. It's like they morphed into Gollums who can exclaim "My preciousssss" with more feelings than the original Gollum.

As for Ria and I, the mere fact that we both have two tickets each in our hands makes the 5-hour camp-out worth the long wait, the lost sleep, the skipped class(es), and the unbearable and tormenting feeling of anticipation as we inched our way to our tickets.

I cannot wait to scream and cheer until I exhaust my lungs out. I cannot wait to go crazy with the crowd, because only in an Ateneo vs. La Salle game will I allow myself to go crazy, as in crazzzzy-till-I-can't-say-my-name-right.

Excited na ako sa drums! It's game time!!! Let's go Ateneo!!!

Inspired by Fr. Huang's beautiful homily at the Mass of the Holy Spirit at Church of the Gesu awhile ago, I want to share this prayer to everyone.

Disturb us, Lord,
when we are too well pleased with ourselves;
when our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little;
when we arrive safely because we sailed too close to the shore.

Disturb us, Lord, when with the abundance of things we possess
we have lost our thirst for the Waters of Life;
having fallen in love with life, we have ceased to dream of eternity;
and in our efforts to build a new earth,
we have allowed our vision of the new heaven to dim.

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly -
to venture on wider seas where storms will show your mastery;
where losing sight of land, we shall find the stars.
We ask you push back the horizons of our hopes,
and to push us in the future with strength, courage, hope and love.

It's been three years. Ang bilis.

Whatever happened to our plans of making an MTV and our very own A1 shirt?

There are certain times when it really pays to be assertive...

...Times like when you see Korina Sanchez step out of her car and head towards exactly where you are. (Or rather, to the line of yummy desserts five inches behind you.)

Of course, there’s no other choice but to take advantage of the proximity. And then you muster all the confidence-slash-kakapalan you can get and say, “Hi Miss Korina, can we take a picture with you? We’re such big fans!!!”

Here we are last Thursday at Cupcakes by Sonja, with the future wife of the future president of the country (well, it’s just my own prediction).

I took the second picture. Notice how blurry it is. That’s because I couldn’t control my shaking fingers. When I was interning at Star Cinema, I wasn’t as starstruck with Piolo or Claudine or Direk Lino as much as I was with Korina Sanchez.

We killed time at Cupcakes and one of the highlights of our kwentuhan is Boy Abunda’s interview with Ruffa Gutierrez recently at The Buzz.

“Did you watch The Buzz last Sunday?”
“Yeah, just how Ruffa can Ruffa get?!”
“Yeah oo nga...”
“Grabe si Anabelle Rama noh?”
“Yadda yadda yadda...”

Upon stepping out of Cupcakes by Sonja, guess who we saw? Ruffa herself, in full regalia of almost 10 bodyguards!

I was just wondering, what if she stepped in at the exact “Just how Ruffa can Ruffa get?!” part of the conversation? Baka barilin kami ng bodyguards isa-isa!

Just how Ruffa can Ruffa get pala ha? Eto’ng sayo! Pyew! Pyew! Pyew! Ratatatatatat!

I wish I can dish out all the details of our Candy adventures, but I won’t, lest I’m willing to risk my “writing career.” (Writing career haha!) Abangan na lang ang August 2007 issue! :)

Here’s a big big bear-hug to Pearl, EJ, MM and Zel. Last Thursday will surely go down as one of my favorite Candy CoC moments. :)

In life, you win some, you lose some.

You try maintaing a 3.6 and then you get a 3.0.

Fr. Arcilla, I will forever remember you.

But my deepest gratitude still goes to you because I know you magically turned that D into a C.

One of the privileges in my practicum is that I get free entry passes to Premiere Nights.

So when I caught "Ang Cute ng Ina Mo" during its premiere last Tuesday, all I can say is: Watch it. Watch it 'cause it's really hilarious and it'll make you laugh your heart out. Watch it 'cause it's not your typical Tagalog comedy film. The humor is something fresh and the script's really good. And of course, you can't go wrong Ai-Ai de las Alas.

My practicum at Star Cinema has been one of the most amazing things this year has brought in. It's nice to be surrounded by people--from the big bosses to the artistas to the network's vermins (aka interns like me)--who give their heart, talent, time, and so much of themselves to their every single project. I used to look down upon our local mainstream movie industry, giving too much emphasis on how profit-oriented it is and how it makes everything a money-making venture.

Working for Star Cinema, though, changed everything. Try going to a shoot or a mall show or just a typical day at the office. You just can't help but be inspired with how everyone works together to come up with something good and not just something good enough.

Working for Star Cinema may be the most tiring thing, but the way it has been very rewarding was something I didn't really expect. I am more than halfway done with my required practicum hours, and sometimes it surprises me that I wish we had 200+ hours instead of 150.

So please please please mark your calendars on April 7 and please please please watch "Ang Cute ng Ina Mo." I guarantee you'll also say that you've never watched a Tagalog comedy this good.
